find a reputable tuner near you and go with what they tune with. A good tuner can make a bad product good, but a great product cant make a bad tuner good

brenspeed.com is where I got my tunes from. Also, if you buy from him, he will give you free custom tunes for life....so every mod you do just send Brent an email and he will send you a new tune for free.
Brent is also super cool to deal with. I had a minor knock in mine after installing an aggressive 93 tune so I called him up and chatted for about 10 minutes about the problem. The next day he emailed me a new tune and it ran perfectly.

Knock is NEVER minor. Free upgrades are nice but when you get agressive with your combo you'll find that the best tuners in the country can't nail the tune mail order.

^If you want to get more aggressive you should have it dyno tuned....I agree wtih TDS

what alot of people dont take into account is that they may get those tunes free, but when you spend all that time sitting on the dyno waiting on the tuner to shoot you a new tune your racking up dyno time which can end up costing you far more than just having it tuned.

Plus a tuner on the dyno can dial in your application in less time. Although they may charge you for retunes they are also factoring in dyno time to.

You should never take a mail order tune on just word alone you should always have them checked to make sure you dont have a bad tune.

Hi all im new here,

I got a question about tuning... right now I have a 01 GT 5 speed and i've been reading up about the X-Cal 3 tuner. They say stock gains on premium gas is around 20 rwhp and 20 ft lbs, im not sure if thats reasonable but w/e. Anyway I have an CAI and SLP exhaust on the car and those were all the mods I planned on doing while I save up for another car.

The car I plan on getting next is a 03-04 cobra. I've pretty much saved the money for it and plan on getting it in a month or two. I understand to do the pulley upgrade on that car you need to have it tuned, so I was thinking of buying the X-Cal3 now and using it on my GT and then once i sell that car and return it back to the stock settings, use it for the Cobra.

I am just wondering if i am correct with this all? I don't need to buy a chip, I can just plug this into the ODB port and flash the stock ECU and when im done and sell the car, get a custom tune with the X-Cal for the Cobra.

Yeah I know Ghostriders clips made me purchase one. Im still debating if I should put SLP on a Cobra, but it might be too loud.
