Gentlemen,

First allow me to introduce myself, I'm a longtime reader, first time poster on this forum. I recently sold a 2002 GT which had Bassani cat-back exhaust I purchased from Nino. Tonight, I'm picking up my 2008 GT which replaces it. Naturally, I started the quest for aftermarket exhaust long ago.

My two top choices are Bassani and Ford Racing's Borla made Stingers. Now, it's down to weighing the pros and cons of each as I see both as top quality. I've heard and driven Bassani's system on a 2008 at the dealer. It was awesome. However, I've not heard FRPP/Borla in person. Can anybody advise how the Borla exhaust compares to Bassani in terms of overall loudness, deep rich tone (like Bassani) drone and performance?

Best regards,
-Kevin

Guys:

I will keep the stock H pipe for now with a good possibility of installing a Ford Racing X in the near future.

Tough choice to make. I loved and received many compliments on my previous Mustang with Bassani. I thought the new three valve motors with the changed muffler location sounded even better than my 02.

Will the Borla/FRPP have the same overall loudness and aggressive sound the Bassanis boast?

Thanks again - I'm off to pick the car up now, can't wait!

-Kevin

the Borla Sitngers will be louder and deeper then the bassani.

on a scale of 1-10 (10 being loudest) my 04 with MRT catted H and Stingers was around a 7.5--8
a guy i knew with a Bassani catted X and Bassni Catback was about a 6.5 to 7

well first off, are you thinking the reg Bassani's or the race? if your thinking reg, im gunna have to say the FRPP stingers, if the race, i say Bassani.

oh, and i recommend the FRPP X, i like mine.

I picked the 08 black on black GT up last night. I had Roush quarter window louvers and hood scoop installed. It's time for the performance modifications to begin. A Roush cold air intake arrived yesterday which will be installed this weekend.

I'm sure the x pipe will be the Ford Racing model. I'm about 60% sure Bassani SS(non race) will be my exhaust of choice, but the FRPP Stingers still really intrigue me. I've listened to every sound available on youtube and it’s really hard to compare with all the variables of video quality, camera types used to record, PC speakers etc...The clips never accurately capture the true sound. On most of the sound clips the Borla sound smoother than Bassani which, sounds a little "meaner" for lack of better description. Then again, I know from personal experience, no sound clip I’ve hear accurately portrays how the Bassanis sound.

Anyway, I’m about ready to flip a coin to decide!

great man, I know you are super excited to have a new mustang. Did you opt for a 5-speed or auto?....please tell me you got a 5-speed...

Five speed all the way! ...3:55 gears too! Wouldn't even consider and auto. I do like the factory clutch and shifter better on this new 08 than my 02. It's still getting a Hurst, but it's far, far superior.

I listened to some more clips at lunch today. I gotta say, I'm now leaning 70% towards the Ford Racing/Borlas.

Whatever the final choice, my end goal is to record some sort of accurate sound clip to make these kinds of decisions easier on other folks.

This weekend it will get the Roush CAI installed and several coats of Zaino show car polish.

yeah, manual is the only way to go. however, i like the feel of 99-04 clutchs wayyyy better that S197's. the new ones are just too light. you can breath on it and get it half way down lol. same with the gas pedal. i like the feel of my buddys 03 much more than mine.

oh, and good choice with the Hurst, you will LOVE it. it makes the biggest difference in the world.

Anyway, I’m about ready to flip a coin to decide!I have the regular bassani on my car with the stock xpipe. I like the sound but it is way too quiet. Matter of fact just slightly louder than stock. I plan on getting the borla stingers. Here is a link to my dyno pull to get an idea of what the bassani sound like. click on Robbie Kisers gt500
