First off, I'm new to the site/forum so I would like to say hello to everyone.

I have an 06 GT and I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust, just the mufflers right now.

Everything is stock as far as exhaust system goes as of right now and I'm looking to buy the MAC axle back exhaust or the Flowmaster American Thunder axle back exhaust, but I need a little help in making my decision on which one to buy so please help.'

I want something that sounds really good, on the louder side but also won't drown you out inside. I don't mind it being somewhat louder inside at all so keep that in mind. My fiance has an 05 V6 stand with MAC axle backs and it is pretty loud inside but with it being a V6 it's a different sound obviously than the V8 I have. I'm leaning toward the MAC as I don't really care for the throatier exhausts although they do sound good just not my first choice.

Please let me know... thanks everyone.

First welcome to MX. See if there is any clips on the website to give you some idea what they sound like. There are alot of choices out there. MAC and Flows is not something I have tried.. Some have tried the Ford Racing 5GT which is quite louder than stock but there is some drone. That was one of my favorite exhausts. Good luck with your choices

Everybody has there own personal preference. I think both the flowmaster A/T and the MACs sound good. The MACs are louder and have more drone than the flowmasters. Sound clips will give you a general idea but listening to the real thing in person would be ideal. BTW I have MACs but my set-up is a little unusual. It's pypes catted X, 12" resonators/glasspacks and MACs. The set-up sounds good.

i have a 2005 gt, when i got it it had flowmaster axle back. the thing i noticed is its not going to sound anything like the flowmasters or macs which believe to sound similar on the older mustangs 96-04 because of the valves. they sound cheap and have this high pitched rattle. most of the new chambered mufflers sound like this on the 05-10 gts. i would personally go with borla or frpp stingers. theres no difference except borlas are more expensive and have a better quality and nicer tips. i changed my axle back to the borla stingers. it will make it a little bit louder after they break in and the tone is deeper richer and more defined. if you really wanna let loose get a pypes o/r x pipe which i put on a few weeks later. i hope this helps!!
