3.33" Pulley, and Alky Controls Methanol Injecton Kit

This one guy from my area just got his vortech'd GT tuned with this same setup and made 438 RWHP and 430 RWTQ

I'd be happy with 415-420 RWHP and 400 RWTQ

Now I need to get a sticky tire under it.

Install pics will come as soon as I get the Meth kit in the mail.

I just need to figure out which wire is the maf signal wire so I can install this thing when it gets here.

Well the meth kit will be here tursday or friday then I will install it over the weekend and also the 3.33" pulley and hopoefully get it tuned at lidios that following week. I'm gonna call Lid tomorrow to setup up and appoinment for the dyno.

I talked to Julio at Alky controls and he basicly walked me through the install on the meth kit and it seems fairly easy. Just three wires to hook up: power, ground and maf signal. Then the modifaction of the washerfulid tank, mounting of the pump, and running of the lines.

Well, looking at the weekend of the 10th or 17th. I talked to Lidio Friday and he's slammed. Mark and Jake both have been out for personal reasons and he's got a ton of deposits taken on other stuff. I'm sure it won't be as bad for tuning because your only talking a couple hours or so.

Lidio also told me he's getting more of his custom meth tanks in this week I believe. I don't know if he's told you about them but they hold 2 or 3 gallons as opposed to the maybe 1 gallon the stock reservoir holds. They're pretty sweet, they're totally hidden from what I understand, I don't remember if they're sheetmetal or aluminum. Either way they're a nice custom fabbed tank with more volume.

Called Lidio today and made a retune appointment for april 6th. Can't wait!

Now I just need to wait for my new plugs and meth kit to arrive and then the install fun begins!

BTW does anyone know what size belt I should go with? The stock vortech belt I have now is a 113" and Im going from a 3.60" pulley down to a 3.33"

That pulley is going to add 2-3 lbs of boost, be careful. Make sure you go with a moderate tune. I had the Stage 2 snow performance water/meth kit on my car. It had a controller which connected to the boost/vacuum system on the car. You could set at which boost pressure you wanted the system to kick on; I think I had mine set 8 psi.

I'll be honest with you, the meth injection kit on my car only gained me about 10-15 RWHP. On my very first setup, I was running a non-intercooled T trim with a 3.60" pulley, AFM powerpipe (junk BTW), and Pro-M mass air (also junk) with an SCT XCal II tuner. The car put down 451 RWHP on a mustang dyno. A month or so later, I added the water/meth kit and got the car retuned. The car put down between 465-470 RWHP with the new tune and water/meth kit. This was hardly worth the $470 for the kit, $100 for the install, and $250 for the retune.

My final setup was the same Vortech T Trim, 2.87" pulley, Procharger 3 core sheet metal race intercooler w/ custom piping, SCT big air meter (actually pegged the meter so I had to add a DiabloSport MAFia during tuning), and a TiAL blow-off valve. I kept the water/meth kit but turned it into a switched system so I could turn it on/off. I only used it as a safety net on the hottest summer days. I wanted to get away from using it because that stuff makes a mess of the blower piping. The inside of the pipes were stained with the boost juice and would puddle on some of the bends. The pump for the water/meth system isn't precise like nitrous solenoids so regardless of how good your tuner and/or water/meth system is, you are going to be left with some residual fluid.

If I could do everything all over again, I would have scrapped the water/meth kit AND the Procharger intercooler and just went with the matching Vortech air/water aftercooler system. Would have saved me thousands of $$$ in parts/labor and would have given me comparable results.

Well I can tell you the alky controls system is a very high quality kit. From what I've been told by my tuner, the snow kits are garbage and the combination of water/methanol isn't the way to go. Lidio uses straight meth, no "boost juice" or windshield wiper fluid or any water what so ever. My gt picked up 65rwhp and 43lb.ft. With a modest tune up. I had zero issues with messy intake tubes or any other problems. You won't be disappointed torch.

Yea I heard the snow kits arent that great. I know three people with meth kits, two of which have the alky conrtols and never had a problem with it. The other one is running a snow water/meth kit, and kept having problems with the pump not working. I'm not bashing the snow performance kits, because I have no first hand experience, but from what I have heard they have there problems. Plus I dont think you can run straight 100% meth in them.

Not arguing with you guys, I just posted my experience with the Snow performance kit. Don't think the Alky kit was out when I bought mine. If it was then I just bought a crappy kit & messed up even more lol

It's really too bad you had the experience you did, because I really think you would have a completely different opinion of methanol if you would have used an Alky kit. Off topic but why did you get rid of the Cobra? That car was hot!
