Hi I am wanting to put long tube headers and the magnaflow magnapacks on my 05 mustang gt. But I dont know what kind of shorty mid pipe to get. Would the X or H sound better with this set up? (I want to stay catted). And what brand of headers should I get.
Would this be a good set up? Thanks a lot!

X-pipes tend to smooth out the exhaust note whereas H-pipes tend to have that choppy exhaust sound. I think they will both sound good with MagnaPacks. X-pipes also make more peak power and H-pipes make better low end torque. Depends on your preferences.

There are some manufacturers that do not offer catted pipes with their long tubes so that will make your list a bit shorter. Off the top of my head you can check out JBA and Kooks Headers.

Do H pipes help make the exaust sound deeper then X pipes? Or is there no difference.
Thanks a lot for all your help!

I want more of a Deep clasic musle car sound! So should I go with the H pipe?
Thanks again!

You want the h pipe then. It will have a deeper more classic muscle car sound

Ok sweet! Thanks for all the help! O and one more thing, do the long tube headers make the exhaust louder and deeper too? Or is that only with a o/r mid? Thanks again

Long tube headers will make your car sound both louder and deeper, especially at WOT.

I would think that the headers would come with the midpipe. With the Kooks that I bought the catted xpipe came with the price. As Nino stated check with Kooks and JBA. Oh my suggestion is do the catted midpipe. The LTs really make the car alot louder than stock

I have to disagree on the Long Tube headers making the exhaust louder...in most cases from my experience, they actually make it a little quieter...however they do make it deeper sounding

but I still agree with cobra, go with the catted H

Ok sweet! So I will go with the catted H. How loud will this setup be (long tubes catted H and magnapacks)?

We sell the Kook longtubes with catted H-pipe. Right now we've got a 9% off Christmas discount going on too (check front page at Ninosport.com).

IMO, that will sound pretty awesome! That setup will still be pretty loud, but not overbearing. It should be nice and deep with a good overall tone.

Really? I did notice the idle (and light part throttle) was slightly quieter and deeper, but after that the long tubes started to open up, and became louder. At WOT they were much louder for me.

^^^well I can only go from my own experience and what other people have said...I know badass's car, he has LT's O/R H and SLP which is very loud as I'm sure you can imaging...his was quieter...and I mean when i say quieter...it's not a huge difference by anymeans...I have Hooker LT's on one of the Machs and same thing...however, it does make it deeper

Would this be a similar loudness to your setup mrtstang? Thanks for all the help.

Glad to help man. No, i basically run race mufflers that are still extremely loud even with a catted h pipe.

Yours won't be as loud, but don't worry, it will sound very good from what i've seen. The long tubes will deepen your sound, and it will really scream at WOT.
