Is that DUCT tape on the intake tube on the throttle body??? Hows that work??
blueblazes
09-06-2007, 03:49 PM
that would be a negative.
The owner had been having problems with the intake tube blowing off with t-clamps and all. Which we later tracked down to an apparent bad bov.
The tape looking material was something he had put on there to help it hold on I remember him telling me what it was but its not duct tape lol. He had gotten some oil on the intake tube and sleeves and he thought that was causing them to slide off so he was using a material in between to try to provide a better mating surface to increase friction between the sleeve and intake pipe hoping to keep it on. It worked long enough to get it to us and fix it.
Anymore ?'s let me know!

One would think thats dryer hose if they had never installed one of these vortech kits but its actually the air intake system that vortech supplies with the units. Many customers opt to upgrade to the afm power pipe systems.
Heres a pic of one of the kits that comes with vortech system
http://www.superchargeronline.com/images/productimages/vortech_mounting_kit.gif
as you can see on the right side its the "dryer duct" to which 03slidewayz mistakenly referred to

No, I was not mistaking...I know what it is...I have installed enough vortec and procharger superchargers in my day...I was just busting your balls because I know how you like to explain the laws of physics for everything and you did it again.... LOL

air intake systems have nothing to do with laws of physics I simply pointed out that what you mistakenly thought to be dryer duct was in fact actual tubing supplied by the supercharger manufacturer. I wish only to inform people not mock them or ridicule them. Maybe you did know, but someone else viewing might make the same mistake and think it was dryer duct. I was just clarifying for those people who may not be as well informed as you or I. Afterall these forums are for spreading the wealth of knowledge that all of us as a collective possess.
Instead of berating a person I would kindly inform them of different options, or of a different opinion, or correct something I know to be a mistake. We all make mistakes, what sets us apart from others is how willing we are to learn from our mistakes and learn new things.

i mean why would it matter? I feel like all this started because of the thread i made about getting my gears installed. All he did was try to give me another option and help me out...which thats what these boards are here for. I asked for opinions on where to have them installed and you gave me yours and he gave me his. Why can't we just use the forum for what its for and leave it at that?

well im currently attending college to finish my IT degree. One of my classes required that I learn html. So I asked Aaron if I could learn via his site, by doing his web design. I didnt personally have a web server on which to host a webpage so it was a matter of convenience. I was able to trial and error using pages noone could access on the web page but me, and learn from that. In return I developed and maintained his webpage designs.
Hope that clears up any confusion or misconception regarding my role there. I have none. Aaron is kind enough to allow me to use his webserver to learn on and in return I update his webpages.

Cool man, didn't know you were goin to school for IT...where are you going? I went to a community college and got my associates degree and started working at a local hospital in IT. I started as a help desk technician but soon moved up and took a more server/networking based role. Just passed the A+ cert. 2 weeks ago, working on the Network+ now and as soon as I take the CCNA, I will be taking online classes at ecu for my bachelor's and masters degrees. Didn't know if you wanted to know that, its just cool to run into people in the field and see how they are advancing and what kind of schooling they are doing. Good Luck with is

Wow thats great. Funny thing is I just got a job but was going to apply for a help desk at local hospital lol. Ive already completed my a+ and currently taking the cisco academy classes to work towards my ccna. If you take the ccna and pass it you might as well just go take the N+ because the guy who wrote the N+ based it off of the ccna exams. I havent considered much into a 4 year degree because the degree is Computer Information Technology so its only a 2year degree. If i wanted a 4 year degree it would be more programming oriented. Im familiar with several languages but im not really sure I wanna do that.

good deal man...sounds like you are on the right track with everything. Good thing about the hospital field is that its a great opportunity because if you get experience at one, you can always move to another if you relocate or something. Also hospitals are gearing more towards security which is kind of the path I want to take. Have fun with the programming man, thats the only stuff I never got haha. My training is geared more towards networking. Plus if you get in a good business, they will pay for your certifications. The hospital where I work pays for all certifications (if you pass) and they are also paying for me to get my bachelor's degree and if I want, they will pay for my master's degree.
