Hello, I have a 96 cobra that Im looking to upgrade exhaust wise, I have narrowed it down to the mac catback but Im not sure what midpipe to get. I want it to be a little raspy but mostly deep, I just really dont like all the popping back firing sound. Even my flowmasters and o/r H I have on there right now is kind of high pitched and poppy sounding. I heard the mac is pretty deep and I have heard clips of them with x pipes and it seems like the two cancel each other out and sound really good. So if anybody has this set up please let me know how it sounds, Im going crazy here! thank you

it's going to be very close...and generally the X is going to give you a higher pitched...so your better off going with the H if being deep is your first concern...

just my .02

I have the o/r x + mac catback combo on my 90. I had the h and my personal opinion is that the x is better. Not sure how the 4v 4.6 will act but the mac catback will be similar to your flows but will move more air and sound a quie a bit meaner. My bullitt has the prochamber/mac catback combo and it's waaay louder than the 90 but the prochamber smooths out any rasp and sounds oh so sweet. Its all about taste and i think the h gives a distinct deep sound where the gives an exotic type sound.

ok thanks a lot guys, I think Im going to go with the UPR o/r X and the macs. I cant wait, Im getting sick of the flows especially now because one of the baffles broke and is rattling around in there like a tin can :pissed:

^^^there's no baffles in the flows to come lose only flow chambers...but I guess it's possible one of the welds let go or something inside, either way...a rattling muffler sucks for sure and I'm sure you'll be happy with the new set up!!! :)

well I was pretty set on the UPR x pipe but noticed that MAC makes one to. The MAC looks like a little better quality. Anybody have any experience with this x pipe? Also the UPR and MAC should sound the same right?

Yes, because both use 2.5" tubing and have the same X-pipe crossover design.

when I think of baffles I think of like that honey comb stuff and crap they pack into cats or glasspacks and stuff...something that's packed with a good amount of material...not just a V shaped piece of metal lol

hehe

of course you know me with SLP...I'm a no baffle of any kind, kinda guy lol :)

A baffle is a device that regulates the flow of gases or fluids, so the V shaped walls inside the muffler would be considered a baffle.

I'm stick'n with my theory lol...besides...we both know that's it's more fun to say "the big V shaped metal thingy that deflects the gasses" rather than baffle :dunno:

lol
