This week we got a letter from a law firm representing Ford and they are laying claim to the MustangExhaust.com domain because it includes Ford's trademark name "Mustang".

Obviously I'm not happy about this and will be contacting their lawyers to see if I can come to some arrangement with them so that I can keep the domain.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up in case we end up having to move the site to another domain or something.

That sucks Nino. I had heard about this happening in the past with Ford and auto forums that were using the Ford logo/name in the title but nothing with trademark names for vehicle model.

Any ideas what you would call the website if you did change it?

sheesh, you would think with reporting a billion dollar loss this quarter they would be worried about other things than this

I wouldn't even have a Mustang if it wasn't for this site...I was originally going to buy an 02 TransAm WS6, when I stumbled upon this site and started riffling through the sound clips and my mind was made up...I had to get a Mustang...

I know I'm only a drop in the bucket compared to what they sell...but hey, whatever...that's my story about this site and how I become involved with Mustangs

On a side note...it's not like the site is called "Ford Exhaust" I mean there are other things out there called Mustang...I believe ford took the name from the Aircraft to bigin with :dunno:

Even Cessna has a small jet called a Mustang...guess what??? Planes have exhaust too!!!

There is a motorcycle manufacturer called Mustang

A frigin brothel in Nevada called Mustang Ranch :dunno:

...and I'm sure a million other things out there using the name...those are just a couple of ones that come to mind right now...don't ask how I know about the brothel lol

I love my car...but Ford really can be f*cking stupid sometimes *shakes head in disgust*

hey nino, just weld some metal together and make it crappy as hell and engrave "Mustang" in it and sell it on your site for $5000 a set for a catback. Then you can say the name brand is mustang and your domain is in reference to your exhaust brand. You could make them fit like a old buick or something lol

why would ford do something to a website that is GOOD for their company. all just trying to get a quick buck, while potentially loosing many loyal customers and potentially new customers.

i know the times are rough for the car companies, but wouldnt you think they would go the route of trying to get new customers and more money in the long run over loosing customers and making very little profit to compensate from the loss of customers???

ford doesnt care about its cars, ford doesnt care about its people. its at that time when you guys will realize that this game we call life is surrounded by money. they make cars that we like and sell them to us. they in no way shape or form care about "us". they only care about whether they buy there cars or not so you guys gotta get this whole "they are going to loose potential customers because they are bieng mean" bit out of your heads. truth is I doubt more then 200-300 people will hear about this domain bieng attacked by ford and those people are die hard mustang fans. So, are we gonna stop buying thier cars? no cause we like them and they know it. It sux, im really sorry nino and i know theres got to be some loop around this BS. The truth is companies dont care about us and that life sux and then you die.

Just a quick update - I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to hear back from the law office that Ford assigned this case to and nothing. I'll update again when I hear something.

Makes me really think really think about which new car to buy. Every time I hear about this backwards, asinine, money making, legal assault on the people who support them, it makes me want to buy a CHEVY or DODGE!
F Ford's legal jack-holes who just want to make a name for themselves while swallowing their boss's jizz, and back-stab the people who brought their products and who put the money in their pockets. Amazing how people forget.
We support them by getting the name out there (and what not) and they want to sue us, go figure.
How about this....we brought your product and in-turn the name so we can use the name where/when/how we want. The name Mustang is all over the car which WE PURCHASED. There was nothing in the contract saying that once we purchased the vehicle we can not use the name for a web site to promote Ford and or the Mustang!

If I'm wrong then I didnt read my contract fully, my fault.

Sorry for the rant but this pisses me off every time I hear this bullsh$t
