Step 4

Step 5
Rock the shifter from side to side and eventualy i will come lose. It takes a while but be patient. Swearing at it doesn't help, trust me I know...lol

Step 6
Clean the RVT sealent off of the tranny be careful not to get any in the tranny

Step 7
Place new gasket on tranny. I used Cobra Bob's Stang shifter gaskets, instead of RVT sealent.

Step 8
Replace inner dust boot and put on the shifter handle adjust it how you like. Take it out for a test spin to make sure everything works good before you put the shifter boot and console back on.

very nice, too bad you didn't post this before i put on my steeda tri-ax...I was afraid I was going to screw something up when I tried pulling the shifter off. Felt like it was welded to the transmission.

Very nice write up - couple points to make....

1. I'd suggest an extension for the ratchet (at least for the one I uesd) - or at least be prepared to use one.

2. Rocking it side to side is an understatement - you need to crank on the phucker - and YES...swearing does help.

3. I agree on the test spin before reinstalling everything.

4. CobraBob gasket FTW

Nice work Torch

Now...I'm no mechanic...but the way I understand it is...to be able to use the MGW, you need a transmission :dunno:

things you forgot, where the boot on the bottom of the stock shifter....the boot thats on the ball that fits in the hole in the trans....i didn't put that on when i installed mine the first time...and the shifter would seem to return back to neutral after a shift.

and for the 3650, you take out the shift stops because the transmission has internal shift stops, so on this particular trans, you do not need th stops, and the stops can actually prevent you from getting into gear fully.
