Well lately I've been looking at getting cams and headers, it won't happen till over winter but I'm starting to look things up. I want to go with Comp Cams XE270AH Cams, and BBK Ceramic LT's.

Now with the cams will there be any problems with PTV clearence? I know I'm going to have to get new valve springs because these cams are Stage 2's and will not work with the stock springs. I'm not going to be doing the install because its much to complicated and I dont want to mess anything up. So I'm probaly going to have Lidio @ Alternative Auto do the cams, Lt's and of couse dyno tune. I'm shooting for over 300 RWHP, do you think its possible?

And does anyone know what cam installs usally run, I'm thinking $600+ but I don't know for sure.

I would suggest some MPH N/A grinds or HiTech Stage 2's over the Comps. Install with new springs should be close to $1,000. Most of the 2v's with full bolt ons and the HiTech Stage 2's have seen upwards of 300rwhp. I think 310/318 is the most i have seen with the HiTech's. A guy on the modularpowerhouse forum just installed some and made 295rwhp in 100 degree Califronia weather. Before the cams he was at 260rwhp.

ohh dont worry bro, I havent ruled that out. I'm gonna get them priced out, I know the cams and headers will be cheaper, but I want to see how much the KB or Vortech will be.

But there's nothing better than the sound of a badass cammed mustang.

thats true torch a badass cam would be sick but your power gains vs the price wouldnt be sufficient IMHO. cams +valve springs = 1000. LT headers plus x pipe = ruffly 1200-1500. install on ehaders around 450. install on cams ruffly 600. dyno tune ruffly 600. your looking at some serious money for around 60 rwhp IMO. but heres the thing. i would want full exhaust with a blower. so if you know a blower is in route for the future. then go with some blower cams and full exhaust. just never forget our little mod motors are meant to be blown. oh and btw. the mongoose kit from MPH is your BEST bang for your buck. i think its going for 3700 or something? thats crazy its non intercooled but you dont need it with that kit IMO. you should also look into vortechs new V3 self contained kit. it looks sweet

I'm picking up a practically brand new Vortech V2 SQ setup for $2100 next month. I'm getting all brackets, hoses, clamps, belt, 3.6 and 3.33 pulley, Vortech bypass valve, lightning mass air, and 42lb injectors. The only thing I have to get is a $100 svt focus pump, spark plugs, and a few guages. The guy drove it for 1 day, and decided he wants to go turbo. Going to check it out on his car next weekend, and picking it up once he removes it. Deals are out there. If you buy a tuner kit, which includes everything minus the fuel upgrades, you can have a complete kit for around $3,000. Pick up a used set of cobra 39lb or 42lb injectors, a used cobra maf or lightning maf or diablo mafia, and an svt focus pump. You already have a tuner. Check out the for sale section over at Modularfords.com. There is a tone of fuel system stuff floating around. Also look for complete used kits. You can also buy a really cheap head unit that needs a rebuild. An upgrade to a V3 with new bearings, seals, volute, and impellar is $800. Just some options to think about.

The Comp cams 270 have had some PVT issues, but I believe it was due to inexperience cam degreeing. Make sure you get the springs and retainers as well for the new cams.
I have the VT Stage 2 Blower cams and like them a lot. Going to install VT Stage 3 heads and VT stage 3 blower cams very soon. MPH has good cams and they can custom grind. If your looking to get a supercharger in the future get the blower cams, its a big plus.

didn't Greg put cams in his car a year or so ago. I think he picked up right at 300 or either a little over.

I'm pretty sure he put down 276/289. He doesn't have longtube headers. Longtubes would get him to like 295/300. I was all for the VT cams until HiTech came out with theirs. I haven't heard of one 2v putting down less than 300rwhp yet in decent weather. One guy put down 295rwhp in 100 degrees. He's going to redyno it when it gets cooler. I'm sure he will make 305-310rwhp if the temp drops in the 70's.

If you're interested in a V3 my tuner has one available, which would come with used 39lb injectors and a brand new diablo mafia. It would come out to just under $3200 and then you would jsut need to get a $100 svt pump. PM me if you're interested.
