Last time we had a big hurricane here in Houston (Rita in '05) we evacuated the city and headed to Laredo. Talk about a bad experience! This time we're going to stay and weather the storm. Got the got the gas powered generator, food, and water ready. Wish us luck!

Hey everyone. Thanks for the well wishes. My family and I are thankfully ok. Our properties sustained minimal damage, which is more than I can say for the folks in Galveston and the other coastal areas. I pray they can get through this ordeal ok.

Our power went out on Saturday around 3:30am and has been out since then. I purchased a generator for my house but the water pressure dropped to almost nothing by Sunday morning. Luckily, one of my uncles that lives in Katy, Texas (just west of Houston) is out of town and their house has full power, water, and internet (so important these days) so we're staying at their house for a few days. The lines to get gas are ridiculous! The wait is about 2-4 hours and cops are present to keep things from getting out of hand. My Mustang survived without a scratch. We're under a curfew because almost all traffic lights and street lamps are out so you can't see anything at night on the roads. Plus there are a lot of flooded streets and snakes everywhere. I'm just waiting to get power back in my house so I can go back and continue the clean up.

I'll post again tomorrow if I get a chance. Thanks again to all!

Good to hear everyone is OK. Flooding and snakes?? Yikes! When we had the wildfire here last Oct, I had a bunch of friends staying w/ me since I was out of the danger zone. No one lost their homes, but a buddy's car burnt to the ground. Disasters like these are hard times, but strong friends and faith keep you going.
