I am going to be getting dual exhaust within the next few weeks. I would like to get a flame thrower exhaust kit, but I really don't know much about them. Is there anything I need to know about problems or product quality?

There will be a problem with your rear bumper! I researched this because one of the shows that I attend every year has a contest for flames and I thought why not, I already run rich for the blower, so it would be easy to do. After talking to a couple of the companies that make them, they all told me that I would probably melt the rear bumper unless I extended the tailpipes far enough out. That isn't going to happen.

I have a fiberglass Saleen rear bumper, how far out do I need to extend the tail pipes?

Is it bad for the engine or any other part of the car (besides the rear bumper)?

They were telling me at least 4 inches, maybe more. There was also the possibility of the tips getting too hot and causing the fascia to melt anyway. Of course, if you had SLPs, that wouldn't be an issue since the tips are double walled....

From what I've read, it stops the engine from running temprarily for the flames to ignite. Is there any other kits that run continuosly while the engine is running? Also, is there anything else, such as propane or something that works well, and is safe, and not bad on the engine?

old skool way was to just put a spark plug in the exhaust and run a hotwire to it. Instant flames
