I'm tentatively planning on a Kenne Bell for the fall/winter of 2009 if that helps

I'd also love to get some chat going about superchargers though....I always like to do plenty of "research" before making an investment (especially when that investment leaps into the thousands...)

KB, Vortech, ProCharger are you best bets. I would go with a KB if you have the money though.

Votech and KB are different systems...both with pros and cons...KB is belt driven while the Vortec's are centrifical (sp) They supple power at different ranges...blah blah...lol

a mechanic here suggested the procharger, which is all great and all, but i'm lookin to save a few $$, so i'd like to put it in myself. how much are KBs?

well the problem with kenne bell is if you dont spend alot of money your not gonna have an intercooler, which means your iat's are gonna be through the roof which can lead to detonation and motor damage.
Personally for a gt/bullit id suggest either a procharger or vortech with an intercooler system

Procharger is probably the easiest and cheapest install. I personally like Whipple.

is go with the kb personally. and spend the money if you dont have it wait till you do. if you want it now then go with procharger, but just know once you put a blower like a kb on your pretty much married to that car

If your gonna do a S/C get some Long tubes. KB is WAY expensive and stay away from ProCharger (for now) to many problems don't know if they fixed them yet...something with the seals and bearings. Paxton is a good choice and so is Vortech. If I had the money I would get a Kenne Bell with an inter-cooler and all the necessary items they offer for the install, along with Long tube headers. You can find a used KB for cheaper than what KB wants on EBay, but then again now you have to hope all the parts are there. Have you looked at the Saleen and Roush superchargers yet?

Vortech S trim or KB 2.1L is your best bet. The KB makes instant boost once your foot hits the floor. So you'll make 9 psi at 2,500rpms and 9 psi at 6,000rpms. The Vortech builds boost as rpms increase. So you won't see max boost until around 6,000 rpms. Vortech makes the most efficient centrifugal blower, and I believe it is the cheapest. Procharger offers intercoolers with their kits because they aren't as efficient as Vortechs and run hotter. This is your best option: http://modularpowerhouse.com/product_info.php?cPath=106_49_50&products_id=121&osCsid=18ddc522df70e10596c2e1f91d053ab2
You should make anywhere from 360-400rwhp depending on your other mods.

Before I give any info, I have a question for you: What do you want from the car?
If you are looking at a street car for redlight to redlight romps, the choice of S/C is very different from a track car.
Answer that and I'll tell you what I know, which isn't much, but it may help.

yes it is the v2 and i did the install myself...it was fairly easy..you can get all the instructions off the vortech site...and dont be scared to tap the oil pan...it was a piece of cake...

the kb's are nice but they are to much money for to little, and if you dont get the intercooled setups your on a time bomb. I think you'll like the centri setup better long term.

I dont know.:dunno: here in Oklahoma i was quoted 6K for a pro-charger, including innercooler, chip tune, and dyno run.

11 Grand! :eek:Damn ...Figure about 4 grand for a Pro Charger an inter-cooler(give or take a few hundred) and the rest is dyno tune (which costed me 300 here in Ct) and labor. Man, 11 grand.... ya, I would say he is looking to rip you off. Stay away from that garage

Don't know what the big deal is about Procharger. An S trim Vortech kit costs $3600 - $3800 and will make the same amount of power as an intercooled Procharger. Install should be around $500. A chip and tune another $500. My tuner offers an S trim Vortech kit installed and tuned for $4,000. This does not include any guages. So a wideband, boost, and fuel pressure guage will bring it closer to $5,000.

so u mean an vortech s trim kit makes the same power, or close too, without innercooler? if thats the case id go that route. Anyway it's alot cheaper than 11K.

I think powerdyne went under, not positive though. They are a cheap alternative but the belt drive systems aren't very durable.
I would get a Kenne Bell or Whipple. That is what I would own but my options were very limited when it came to positive displacement blowers. Nobody makes an intercooled kit.

Vortech is the most efficient centrifugal blower. Procharger isn't as reliable and has heat issues. That's why all their kits come standard with an intercooler. Get a Vortech S Trim Mongoose Kit from Modular Powerhouse for $3900, or upgrade to a T trim for an additional $250. You have absolutely everything that you need, even the tune. All you need to do is get it installed and throw it on a dyno to check the A/F ratio.

heres the thing kenne bells are only available from factory which means they dont sell them in wholesale to speeds shops etc so tuner shops just dont deal alot with them because they cant mark the price up that is why every shop you go to trys to push procharger and vortech and says that kenne bell are garbage. i am completly set on getting a kenne bell and am going to do the install myself. From my research the install can be done in a weekend.I have always thought somone would be crazy to attempt a supercharger install on their own that was untill about a month ago when my buddy installed a jackson racing roots style super charger on his stock 04 integra rsx type s in like 8 hours and completly made his car crazy fast like right on my bumper now haha so now im not affraid to attempt the install i say look into kenne bell
