i have a 99 Mustang cobra, and the equipment i was looking into was a corsa set of black diamond mufflers, with something like UPR or BBK for the x-pipe. does this sound like a good setup, or are there any better sounding ones out there?

First of all - welcome to the board.
As for the exhaust setup - you're going to get a bunch of different responses. I would recommend to listen to as many sound clips as you can before making a decision. Are you planning on going with an O/R midpipe or catted? Want it more aggressive/raw or smooth/deep? Highway driving or city? Auto or manual? If you can answer those I might be able to help a bit more.

first of all, thanks for the welcome,
I know it has to be street legal so i need cats and i prefer the aggressive raw sound more, but i also love that deep rumble so if there is a balance between the two? and ill look into Borla and Bassani.

Try the video Ghost made of my setup - catted Mac H with Borla Stingers. Based on your statement of deep yet aggressive, I'd highly recommend Bassani or Borla for the catback with a catted H.

thanks for the reply, i have but one question about your comment swiss.... i have read that the x-pipe helps with horsepower (a very important thing). how does the h-pipe do with this in comparison?

exhaust doesn't help with HP unless your running 500 + so don't buy it for that...buy it for sound, your the one that has to live with it. by putting a full exhaust system on your car you might gain 1 maybe 2 hp, you won't even feel it...get what you want to hear day in and day out
and Borla and bassani are good like Swisser and Cobra mentioned above...but when your done playing around with those little kiddy exhaust...step up to somthing real...
:jest:
had to Stever...hahahahha
I was sincere about the HP thing though...buy it for what you want to hear bro

I would like some opinion on this setup,

also, do you think the sound would be similar on a 99 cobra? if different how so?

Like Ghost said - don't worry about horsepower with an exhaust setup. Unless you're planning on making BIG power it really won't matter.
As for midpipes - X pipes tend to have a more exotic/higher pitched sound while the H pipes tend to have a deeper sound. As for catbacks, the straight through muffler/resonators (Bassani, Borla, Magnapack, SLP, etc) will tend to be more aggressive, louder and drone less while catbacks with chambered mufflers (Flowmaster, Mac, etc.) will tend to have a smoother, slightly deeper tone that tends to drone more (typically around 2k RPMs....which could be bad if you have an auto, but again that's preference).
Hope that helps....
As for your clip - it won't open :dunno:

SLP over that anyday!!! did you have a listen to my clips? Your car should be a little deeper than that too cause you only have a 2V instead of 3V

ok so i should buy a catted mid pipe to go with this set?I doint know what state you live in. Some states such as NC do visual check to make sure you have cats installed. Alot of guys on this forum have OR pipes and get through inspection. I cant

I get by, but I live in a super small town (about 1200 or so people) and there are 3 places in town that do inspections, so I can go up to any of them and they just slap the sticker on and i give them 11 bux and I leave lol

You do not want that exhaust. Thats a guy in my local car club and it is the loudest setup I think i have ever heard. It dosnt even sound like a mustang anymore. In the video it sounds great but it is way to loud like a i said. I have slp catted x and slp cat back and my car is loud but it isnt half as loud as that.

Hey guys,
I've been doing some research on what all I need for a new exhaust system for my stock 98 v6. What i want to do is change my y-pipe to an offroad h-pipe and have flow 40s at the end. What all do I need to do this? Dual exhaust adapter kit? Replacement h-pipe? And Flow 40s? What else??
P.S. i think i'm stumped on what else I need (if anything) because I'm unsure if my h-pipe connects directly to my mufflers or if I need axel back pipes still...
Thanks!
