My borla tips where in terrible shape so I decided to cut them off. I had some MRT 3.5" rolled tips that I had bought a few months ago.
So I go to the muffler shop and have them welded on so I wouldnt worry about them falling off with just the clamp. As some of you know the borla are 4" rolled. I am disappointed to tell everyone that the stingers are just not as loud as before. I dont think this is my imagination, I am certain of it. I have two choices as I see it. Cut the 3.5 tips off and buy some 4" tips which are not cheap or buy the tips and put them on my bassani pipes. I am so bummed by the difference in the sound. So to finish
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR TIPS TO A SMALLER SIZE "IT SCREWS THINGS UP"

Finding it hard to believe as I've ran both, with my tips and without and there is no difference in sound or volume...that sucks though man, curious to see if you think there is a difference when you put the new ones on

Sorry, what I meant is I've ran my car with my tips on and with them off and just having the pipe come out...so if anything...you'd think that would effect it...but I didn't notice a difference...I'm not saying I don't believe you I'm just saying well...
YOU'RE A LIAR!!!

it reminds me of the baffles that come in the bassani exhaust tips. When you take them out the car is louder and sounds better. The smaller tips just muffle the sound

What's your plan to replace the tips? Going with a universal type tip or what?

You are entitled to your opinion but to me the 4" fill my cutouts nicely:thumbsup:

^^^nothing against you man, I think the reason I think they are kinda ricey though is cause they are very short and they just burst into this big 4" pipe, which is kinda how they do on civics and crap like that...no what I mean kinda? Where as alot of exhaust especially the older ones is long straight pipeing which is especially evident on most of the older 5.0's...I'm not saying the exhaust is ricey...believe me it sure as hell doesn't sound like it...I think it's just the tips and I don't know why they did that :dunno:
I noticed that too when we met up...that your tips...as soon as they tuck in behind the cutout get very small very quick.
I'm not trying to be a ****...but does anybody understand where I'm coming from here?

I think the borla and bassani tips are at least 16" long at least for the IRS system and you cant even see the pipe from the back or side (I dont know about the GT system. To me the slp tips look too small so Ghost I can see why you think the 4" tips look so big since the slp tips look like they are 3" in diameter which is way they are constructed

im kind of going to agree with ghost on this one...i like the way the borla tips look, but they do get kinda big at the tip, but then again I agree with robbie that you can't really see anything but the tip on his cobra...I wish I had bigger tips the 2.5" flows look kinda small, but as ghost mentioned earlier, you can see like 12-15" of the 5.0's exhaust

I don't disagree - I agree with Ghost - I think the 4" tip fills the cutout better than the smaller tips, but I do think they should be longer like the pipes of old. I think an ideal pipe would be a larger SLP tips - that way the tip isn't dipped in chrome (for wear purposes) and it'd have a better profile as well. My only point is that I think it fills the cutout better. The only improvement I'd make to my tips would be just what I mentioned above...make them longer.
Don't worry Ghost - I already know you're a d*ck :jest:

I've actaully been looking around the net and it looks like the late model stangs with the axel back stingers have alot longer tips...I don't know why they didn't do that in the first place...but then again, it's a very popular exhaust so if people are buying then why change I guess :dunno:
